How to Leave a Skool Community

Whether you're in a free group or a paid mastermind, here's exactly how to leave a Skool community, cancel your subscription, and understand what happens to your data.

Leaving a free Skool community

Free communities are the easiest to exit. There are no subscriptions to cancel — you just leave.

  1. 1

    Open the community

Go to the Skool community you want to leave. You can access it via your Skool dashboard or a direct link.

  2. 2

    Click the community menu

In the top-right corner of the community page, click the three-dot menu (⋯) next to the community name.

  3. 3

    Select 'Leave community'

From the dropdown menu, choose Leave community. You'll be asked to confirm your decision.

  4. 4

    Confirm your exit

Click Leave to confirm. You'll immediately lose access to the community feed, groups, and any member-only content.

Leaving a paid Skool community

Paid communities require an extra step: you need to cancel your subscription before (or when) you leave, or you may keep getting charged.

  1. 1

    Cancel your subscription first

Before leaving, go to Settings → Membership in the community (or manage it via your original payment link). Cancel the subscription so you aren't charged again.

  2. 2

    Check your billing date

Paid communities usually give you access until the end of your current billing period. Note the date so you know when access will end.

  3. 3

    Leave the community

Once the subscription is cancelled, follow the same steps as a free community: open the menu (⋯) and select Leave community.

  4. 4

    Request a refund (if eligible)

If you just paid and want a refund, contact the community owner directly through Skool DM or their support email. Refund policies vary by creator.

What about your data?

Leaving ≠ account deletion. When you leave a community, you stop being a member, but your Skool account still exists. Your past posts and comments may remain visible to existing members.

To fully delete your Skool account and all associated data, you must contact Skool support directly. There is no self-service account-deletion button at this time.

Community owners control the content inside their groups. If you want specific posts removed, ask the owner or a moderator before you leave.

Frequently asked questions

Will the community owner know I left?
Skool does not send a notification to the owner when you leave, but they can see member-count changes and may notice in their admin dashboard.
Can I rejoin a community after leaving?
Yes. For free communities, you can rejoin anytime. For paid communities, you'll need to purchase the subscription again.
What happens to my posts and comments?
Your past posts and comments usually remain visible to other members unless the owner deletes them. Your profile may show as 'Former member' in some areas.
Do I get my money back if I leave early?
Skool itself does not process refunds — the community owner does. Check their refund policy or message them directly.
Is my data deleted when I leave?
Leaving a community removes you from the member list, but it does not automatically delete your Skool account or your data from Skool's platform. To fully delete your Skool account, contact Skool support.
